The 2nd annual 4-person golf scramble, benefitting the Vernon ISD Lions Roar, will be held April 20, 2024. With the area receiving a minimum amount of precipitation today, and with temperatures forecast to stay above freezing overnight, Vernon ISD officials have announced the district will be operating on a regular school day schedule on Monday. Buses will run at their regularly scheduled time.
In August, Vernon ISD started using a new parent-teacher communication app called Rooms. Many of our parents are already signed up and using Rooms with the teachers of their children. If you have not signed up, or would like a refresher, please visit the site linked below with all the information parents need to use Rooms!

For anyone who works in a public school, the Christmas Break is always a welcome time of the year. It is a time when we get to refresh our batteries. For some, it is a time to completely remove themselves from the job, but as a superintendent, I can never fully disengage. Whenever I have tried it, I always develop a sense of low-key anxiety thinking about the lost opportunity to get a little ahead of the job. PLEASE TAKE NOTE: Students in DAEP and Opportunity Center students will now have classes at the Central Elementary campus. Students will need to enter the building through the main doors on the Paradise Street side of the building.

The Middle School Winter Formal was held Thursday evening in the VMS Gym. A Winter Formal King and Queen were crowned for each grade, and the winners were: 6th Grade -- Blut Soe & Praylee Patterson; 7th Grade -- Aiden Trejo & Plar Shee; and 8th Grade -- Carlito Rodriguez & Katie Caveness. A few special visitors also made their appearance at the dance.
Several VMS teachers got in the Christmas spirit and decorated their classroom doors. They were very creative!!
Leading up to our Christmas Break, Vernon ISD campuses will be on their early release schedule for both Thursday and Friday.
Before the Lady Lions' game Tuesday night, the members of the Vernon Middle School girls' 7th and 8th grade basketball teams were recognized and joined the varsity players in the middle of the court at D.O. Fulton Gym.
On Monday, 6th graders took their reward trip for the semester, as they traveled to Altus to see the movie "Wonka," which was followed by a visit to the bowling alley.
Our Lady Lions will hit the court at D.O. Fulton Gym tonight at 6 p.m. to take on the Jacksboro Tigerettes in a District 7-3A contest. The JV game will begin at 4:30 p.m. Tickets must be purchased in advance at www.vernonisd.org
