Both of our third-place finishers at the Region 1-3A Track & Field Meet -- Tevan Evans and the mile relay team -- earned the wildcard berth to the State 3A Track & Field Meet. The third-place finishers in each event that had the best time or distance from all four regional meets earn the wildcard berth. Tevan will compete in the Boys High Jump. He joins Key'Maria McBride, Girls Triple Jump, Klancy Sherrill, Girls 300M Hurdles, and Jackson Aydelott, Boys 200M Dash & Boys 400M Dash, who qualified for state in individual events. Qualifying as members of the mile relay team are Kylan Jagiere, Nevan Schur, Ty Scott and Jackson. Vernon and VHS will be well represented at the State Meet on May 1 in Austin.

Roles were reversed Friday afternoon at VHS, as it was the students hiding Easter eggs for the adults!! VHS held a Staff Easter Egg Hunt on the front lawn after school was dismissed. Those who found a "golden" egg took it to the office to receive a special prize.

It's the girls' turn to hit the Leo Brittain Field next Monday for their annual VHS Powderpuff Football Night. The freshmen girls will face the sophomore girls, and the junior girls will square off against the senior girls in the semifinals, with the winners of those games moving on to the VHS Powderpuff Championship Game.

We hope all of our students and their families, our teachers and all of our staff have a happy Easter.
