
If you're an incoming 7th, 9th or 11th grader and plan on participating in any sport, or band, during the 2025-26 school year, you must have a sports physical before you will be allowed to participate. Also, any student who participated in sports last year and suffered a major injury will need a new sports physical. If you haven't gotten your sports physical yet, here's a great opportunity, so mark your calendar.


We firmly believe Vernon ISD has some outstanding administrators and when they are recognized by others, it just confirms what we already know.
Congratulations to Vernon High School Principal Dr. Cynthia Jackson for being named the TASSP Region IX High School Principal of the Year for the 2024-25 school year! The honor is well deserved.


Our VHS Europe tour group enjoyed London the last couple of days. They saw Big Ben and Westminster Abbey, and other wonderful sites.



This morning a group of 29, including VHS students and parents, and VHS teachers, left on a trip to Europe. The group will make stops in London, Normandy, Paris, Bastogne, Cologne, and Berlin. Wishing them a lot of fun and safe travels.


The Boys & Girls Club of Vernon's 6th Annual Back to School Bash is right around the corner! The event will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday, Aug. 5, at the Boys & Girls Club. The event will including handing out free school supplies, back-to-school clothing, and other back-to-school services including health screenings, haircuts and more. Food vendors will also be on hand, and there will also be fun games, music and entertainment. Make plans to attend on Aug. 5!!


We suspended online registration and enrollment for the 2025-26 school year earlier this week and, unfortunately, it is still suspended at this time. When we resume online registration and enrollment for the upcoming school year we will make an announcement. Thank you for understanding and we apologize for any inconvenience.


As of today we are exactly 7 weeks from the start of a new school year!! To help those families that like to get a head start on planning for the new school year, we've posted the VHS school supply list below. These are generic supplies. Students will learning the specific supplies they need for their classes on Meet The Teacher Night or the first day of school. We look forward to seeing all of our returning students and our new students on Aug. 13. 2025-26 is going to be a great school year!!


After wet field conditions forced the Vernon Lions Baseball Camp to push the dates of the camp to late last week, the baseball camp and Vernon Lady Lions Softball Camp combined for one big camp. Youngsters learned and practiced the fundamentals common to both sports, and then broke into smaller groups and worked on sports specific skills. The camp wrapped up Saturday morning.











Last week was “camp week” for our Vernon High School cheerleaders and they totally ROCKED IT!!
The 2025-26 VHS cheerleader squad brought home numerous team awards, including two Blue Superior Ribbons and the Spirit Stick Award, and several individuals also earned special recognition.

REMEMBER EOC RETESTING!!
VHS students who need to retake an EOC may do so starting tomorrow. Below is the schedule for the EOC retakes. All EOC testing will be done at Vernon Middle School and will begin at 8 a.m.

Session 1 is for kindergarten thru 2nd grade students and will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Session 2 is for 3rd grade thru 6th grade students and will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Registration fee is $40. The Champs Volleyball Camp held at D.O. Fulton Gym wrapped up its 3-day run yesterday. Campers ranging from pre-kindergarteners to 8th graders worked to learn the game and improve their volleyball skills all while having fun.

Vernon ISD is holding a public meeting on the district's 2025-26 proposed state and federal budgets on Monday, June 23, in the boardroom at the Vernon ISD Administrative Building. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m., and is open to the public.

Due to field conditions at Jabe Brazzle Field, the Lions Baseball Camp has been postponed. The camp will be held Thursday, Friday and Saturday, June 19-21.

TODAY'S THE DAY!!
Today, seniors can start picking up their diploma, transcript and, if ordered, graduation pictures at the VHS Office. Please remember the office is closed on Fridays. Office hours are 8 a.m. to Noon, and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Monday thru Thursday.


Parents and Students of Class of 2025: The diplomas and graduation pictures are available for pickup at the high school. The school is open Monday - Thursday, 8am - 12pm and 1pm - 4pm.
