There was nighttime attire all around at D.O. Fulton Gym this morning, but it was everything but a sleepy atmosphere at the Lions Pride Pep Rally. The theme for the pep rally was "Put Those Panthers To Sleep", but our Lions were anything but ready to take a nap!!! Congrats to the Junior Class as they won the Class Yell competition.

Our culinary students baked cupcakes on Thursday to celebrate our staff members who have September birthdays! The students hand-delivered their cupcakes to the September birthday staff members and here are a few pics of those deliveries. We've heard the cupcakes were delicious!!

On Thursday, our CNA students participated in Cultural Diversity Day! They have been studying the relation between how diverse America is in culture and how communication efforts as a healthcare worker can be affected by a lack of knowledge and hinder the care those in health care offer patients and residents. Being up to date on a wide variety of cultures can help those in health care offer better care to patients and residents as well as improve outcomes during rehabilitation and promoting quality of life.
Each student was assigned a culture and had to provide information on how it relates to healthcare including some general background information, common diseases/diagnosis, diet habits within the culture, medical treatments offered, types of medications offered, the type of long term care that may be offered as well as end of life preferences for each culture. All of the students did a great job researching and presenting their information. To top it off, the class held a potluck lunch where each student made one food or drink item from their culture. All the food was PHENOMENAL! They hope to be able to provide exceptional care to their patients in the future!

Today's Lions Pride Pep Rally theme is "Putting The Panthers To Sleep" and as you can tell, our students enjoy wearing their PJs to school. It's one of their favorite days! The pep rally will begin at 11:45 a.m. today since this is an early-release Friday.

Our Lions tennis team are doubling up, with district tennis matches today and tomorrow. Today they will be in Bowie to make up a match that was rained out earlier this month, and tomorrow they will square off against Holliday in Wichita Falls. Good luck Lions!!

Our Lions are 3-1 on the season and will now begin District 4-3A, Div. 1 action, as they travel to Paradise tonight to take on the Panthers. Paradise is 2-2 for the year, but was the pre-season pick to win the district title. Our Lions will battle hard to grab the victory and make sure that prediction doesn't come true!! We're behind you Lions!! Pounce on the Panthers!!! #LionExpressNothingLess

Our Lady Lions volleyball team showed a lot of fight and improvement in their match Tuesday against Iowa Park, and they will be looking to take another step forward today when they travel to Henrietta for a District 7-3A game with the Lady Cats. Varsity will begin at 4:30 p.m., with the JV matches to follow. Go get 'em Lady Lions!!! Good luck!!!

Due to next Tuesday being an early release day for Parent/Teacher conferences, Kona Ice is bumping their visit to VHS back to Wednesday (Oct. 2). Kona Ice will be here from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. next Wednesday.
