The Lions opened the 2025 season with a 30-7 victory over Burkburnett last Friday. Receiving Player of the Week honors were: Ty Scott, Offensive MVP & Explosive Player; Adrain Felton, Defensive MVP; Jamari Chance, Ball Hawk; Christian Gallegos, Offensive Lineman; Malakhi Propes-Scott, Lion Heart; Evan Wilkinson, Top Skill Position Blocker; Thomas Gonzales, Big Stick; Mason Ballard, Special Teams; and Jaxon Urquizo, Special Teams Gunner.
The Lions hit the road this Friday, as they will travel to Gainesville to take on the Leopards. All tickets must be purchased online. To get your ticket, follow this link https://www.gainesvilleleopards.org/HTtickets

A new state law now requires schools to have written parental consent before providing some non-emergency health care services to students. VISD's school nurses want to provide students with the health care they need -- when they need it -- but must also stay in compliance with state law. Consent forms will be sent home with students this week. We urge parents to review and complete the consent forms and bring the forms back to your child's school.
Please know emergency care will be provided when necessary, as allowed by law and district policy.

Senior pictures for our Class of 2026 is set for this Thursday, Sept. 4. Seniors will be called out of class 10 at a time. Seniors who are not in school on Thursday, will have the opportunity to have their senior pictures made Friday. Yearbook picture day for our remaining classes is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 25.

There has been a change to the VISD 2025-26 school calendar. Due to a scheduling conflict for the Prosper football stadium, the Lions' football game scheduled for Friday, Sept. 19, in Prosper has been moved to Thursday, Sept. 18. The district had an early release scheduled for that Friday and it has now been moved to Thursday, to coincide with the game change. Friday, Sept. 19, will now be a regular, full school day.

All VISD students, teachers and staff are enjoying this Monday Labor Day holiday, but we will be back in school tomorrow and we will be in a new month, as today is September 1. A new month means a new school cafeteria menu! Check out the September cafeteria menu below.

It was "Wreck the Bulldogs" day at VHS Friday as the Lions opened their 2025 season against the Burkburnett Bulldogs. Here are a few scenes from the pep rally that got that Lion spirit pumping Friday afternoon and continued after kickoff!! The Lions defeated the Bulldogs, 30-7.

Vernon football programs are back!!

It is Construction Day in the district as it falls inline with the theme for the football pep rally, "Wreck the Bulldogs." Students and staff are decked out in their best construction gear.

Earlier this week World History students stepped outside to play the oldest game known to mankind. This game is believed to have been around for 20,000 years or more. Paleontologists named it "Chunk-ay". Bowling, marbles and soccer are games that have get their roots from this game. Scientists were able to gather knowledge about this game thru contextual data.

Yesterday students in Mrs. Wendy Birbeck's CNA classes learned how to do CPR on both adults and babies. John Perez, a paramedic with the Vernon Fire Department, was the instructor for the training.

Good luck to our VHS tennis team as they open district play this afternoon! The Lions will take on the Bowie Jackrabbits in their first district team tennis match of the season!!
