Vernon will take on Denver City at 7 p.m., Thursday, at Happy State Bank Stadium in Canyon.
Due to the distance to the game, VISD will operate on an Early Release schedule on Thursday. We will also have our regularly-scheduled Early Release on Friday that was on our 2025-26 School Year Calendar. Vernon will be the visiting team. Look for information on ticket details later this week.

BI-DISTRICT CHAMPS!!! The Lions defeated Clyde 42-14 tonight to grab the gold ball!!! We will play Denver City in Area round. Will post details when everything has been confirmed.
Thursday evening VMS presented it's One-Act Play "Nicolas Nickleby" at a performance at the Wilbarger Auditorium. The students competed in a Junior High One-Act Play competition earlier this week and claimed second place, along with several acting and technical honors. The students did another outstanding job last night.

Last Saturday members of our Middle School Band/Roarin' Lion Band participated in tryouts for the Jr. High All-District Band 5 students made the honor band. Those students were: Olivia Hastings, 1st Chair Percussion; Luke Parmer, 2nd Chair Percussion; Landrey Conley, 7th Chair Percussion; Evanny Quintero, 8th Chair Percussion; and Nevaeh Castillo, 12th Chair Trombone. We are extremely proud of all the students who participated in the tryouts and their hard work and dedication to band. Congratulations to these five who earned a spot in the All-District Band.

Eighth grade students in Mrs. Chilton's 8th grade Art 1 class made an eagle to honor our veterans on Veterans Day. Some students who worked on the photo are pictured with two veterans who teach at here at VMS -- Mrs. Robinson and Mr. Soucy. Not pictured is veteran Mr. Farson. We thank them and all veterans for their service to our country.

Our Vernon Lions will take on Clyde in the bi-district round of the playoffs and Friday's dress-up theme and Pep Rally theme is "Lei Out the Bulldogs." Wear your favorite Hawaiian gear! The pep rally will be held at 9:25 a.m., Friday, in D.O. Fulton Gym.

Selected as our Students of the Week for last week are: 6th Grade -- Isla Streit & Karter Gee; 7th Grade -- Elysandra Villeda & Angel Cordoba Bahena' and 8th Grade -- Sarai Leija & Braxton Booth. Congratulations! Keep up the good work!!

Earlier this month, some of our VMS students had the opportunity to interview veterans of our Armed Forces. We wanted to share their interviews on this Veterans Day. We would like to thank all of our veterans for their service to our country.





Last week VMS students traveled to Graham and competed in a Junior High One-Act Play competition. Our production of "Nicholas Nickleby" took second place, and our students also brought home some acting and technical awards. Our students will give a performance of the production at 6 p.m., Thursday, at the Wilbarger Auditorium.

Our Vernon Lions have made the PLAYOFFS!!! Vernon will face Clyde in a Class 3A, D1 bi-district playoff game on Friday, Nov. 14. The game will be played at Tiger Stadium in Jacksboro. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 and must be purchased online. District 4-3A and THSCA passes will be accepted. No Senior Citizen passes will be accepted. Vernon will be the home team.

Our 6th grade students got a surprise Friday morning, as Vernon College donated college t-shirts to all of them to help promote college awareness. The t-shirts were handed it this morning in class.






On Thursday, students represented VMS in a Junior High One-Act Play competition in Graham. The VMS production of "Nicholas Nickleby" finished in second place in the competition. The student playing the title character, Logan Ware, was named Best Performer in the competition, and four other students earned All-Star Cast honors. VISD students get a 3-day weekend this week, as there are no classes on Monday, Nov. 10, due to it being a Professional Development Day for teachers and staff.

This Friday is a scheduled Early Release Friday for Vernon ISD. We hope our students enjoy getting a head start on their weekend.
