The drawing for our 4th Six Weeks Perfect Attendance prizes was held Friday morning and the lucky students were: Neimiah Lin, 6th Grade; Stephen Say, 7th Grade; and Cristobal Meza, 8th Grade. Each young man received a "Mystery Box" prize that included items such as Legos, Lava Lamps, Squishmallos and more items. Each week During the 4th Six Weeks, students were able to put their name in the drawing every week -- as long as they didn't miss a day of school.

Vernon ISD students get an early jump on a 3-day weekend tomorrow, as the district will be operating on its Early Release schedule on Friday. AND, students will not go to school Monday as it is a teacher workday, as we wrap up the 4th six weeks and prepare to head into the 5th six weeks. We hope our students enjoy their Monday and look forward to returning to the classroom on Tuesday!
The Boys & Girls Club will also be closed Monday. They will open early tomorrow.

Today, Vernon State Hospital partnered with the VMS & VHS PTO to provide treats for our Teacher Appreciation Cart. Their team delivered goodies door to door and took the time to personally thank our staff. They also delivered goodies to teachers at the State Hospital South Campus.
We truly appreciate Vernon State Hospital for supporting our campuses and recognizing the value of our educators. Community partnerships like this make a difference.

Last weekend the District 7-3A Boys Jr. High Basketball Tournament was held in Iowa Park and our 7th Grade A team captured the tournament title! Vernon squared off against Henrietta in the championship game and squeaked out a 40-36 victory. Congratulations!! We're proud of you!!

Last night, Vernon ISD trustees named Dr. Blaise Boswell as the lone finalist for the VISD Superintendent position. Dr. Boswell has been serving as the interim superintendent for the last three months, and will officially become the VISD Supt. after the state mandated 21-day waiting period. This is a 3-day weekend for Vernon ISD students as they are out of school on Monday, Feb. 16. Monday is a scheduled Professional Development day for VISD teachers and staff. Students will return to join their teachers in the classroom on Tuesday.

We need to cancel our informational meetings for parents and students who are planning on trying out for the VMS 2026-27 cheerleading squad. The meetings were scheduled for this week, and are being moved to next Tuesday and Thursday, Feb. 17 & 19. Meetings will start at 6 p.m. and be held in the VMS Cafeteria. We apologize for any inconvenience this schedule change may cause. Students who plan on trying out, along with a parent or guardian MUST attend ONE of the meetings.

Due to the City of Vernon being under a Water Boil Order, we are cancelling school Monday. We will be purchasing pallets of water tomorrow and setting up alternate hand-washing stations at all campuses. We will have school on our regular schedule on Tuesday.
If the Water Boil Order is still in place on Tuesday, all students will receive a bottle of water in the morning and another bottle of water at lunch.
