Earlier this year Big Brothers Big Sisters of Wichita County and Vernon ISD joined

forces to bring the program to the Middle School campus. Big Brothers Big Sisters

aims to foster positive mentorship relationships for children.

In support of this effort, Big Brothers Big Sisters is hosting a Mentorship Rally

entitled “Building Bright Futures” that will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.,

Thursday, at the Red River Valley Museum.

The rally gives residents the opportunity to learn about the Big Brothers Big

Sisters program and how to volunteer to become involved in the lives of the young

students in the community. By being matched with a mentor on a one-to-one

basis, these children will have access to positive role models who can guide and

inspire them to reach their full potential.

The object of the rally is to give potential volunteers a chance to talk with Big

Brothers Big Sisters staff members, ask questions, and gain insights into the

responsibilities and rewards of being a Big Brother or Big Sister.

Those attending the rally will have the opportunity to complete their volunteer

application at the event. Light refreshments will be served. The rally is sponsored

in part by Vernon College.
